Roles in media for Males

In media man are all was seen as the big guy that always does the hard work. Thats because males are naturally stronger so they are seen as better. So males are always put into hard roles that require them to think and be strong. But now today they are starting to be seen in lesser roles such as staying at home with the kids or having a woman boss at work. We now live in a world that isnt as gender bias.

In the media there are many ways that females are seen. One of the biggest ones is the stay at home mom, or the secretary for a big coprate office. These have all ways been seen as womans work. Thats because they are weakier jobs that would fit for women. But now today it has started to change, you now see women running big companies and no longer staying at home. Thats because peoples ideas have changed about these things.

The first big story was about the death of the communist leader of North Korea. This just happened yesterday, the death of Kim Jong Il  has caused alot of people to become happy over it. Now many beleave that his son will take over.

The second big story was about a flood that took place in the Philippines. It has caused a death toll of about 1,000 people total. But there could be more found with in the next few days. About 400 coffins were already shipped out for the bodies.

The third big story was about a large group of people who are living in a huge refuge camp. There is about 450,000 people that live in one in Kenya in the Dadaab. All of these people have moved from Somali to be safe and taken care of.

The first big story was about Putin in Russia. He stepped down from the president position in Russia. But now he is the prime minister. Lately Mcain has been in contact with him.

The second big story was about Iran who is saying that Americans need to stop flying drones over Iran. They say if they dont they will start to use the new drones they are devolping to shoot them down.

The third big story of the day was about the five best credit cards to sign up for. This is because they offer a new airline system. It might allow people to gain free airline tickets.

The first story was about a reporter who went and stayed with a group of Taliban militist. The tried to evade towns or roads so they wouldnt get caught. It allowed the reporter to see first hand wht these people experiance.

The second story was about the U.S. census data that has been released. It shows that over half of the U.S. is either low income or poor.It shows that the middle class is shrinking and now the lower class is expanding.

The third big story of the day was about a double homicide that took place in Massachusetts in a million dollar home. It was a couple that owned the house. It is still unknown why these people were killed or who took part in the murder.

The first story was about the 100th anniversery of people that reached the south pole. People from Norway went and gathered to celebrate this day and pay respect to Roald Amundsen who was the first man to reach the south pole.

The second story was about Amazon using a big brother system to track people. This way they can see what people like and that way they can send adds to people to try and get them to buy products. Some people dont like this because they think this system will be used to watch them.

The third big story of the day was about the ex-coach for Penn State saying that the charges are ludicrous. But he does have 50 charges against him, which is causing many people to think lesser of him. He might also have to move his case to trial soon.

The first story was about two helicopters that crashed in Washington. The helicopters were army helicopters that were reconnaissance copters. When they crashed it killed four people. It is still unknown  why they crashed.

The second story was about the crackdown in Syria. It was on a uprising that has been happening for about nine-months now. The U.N. has reported that over 5,000 people have died from this crackdown on the people.

The third big story of the day was about a pile up that happened in L.A. It caused a huge traffic jam in the city. About a dozen semi's were involved in this pile up on the freeway.

The first story was about a interveiw with the president. Obama talked about the problems with economy that is holding back the U.S. He then talked about congress and the things that need to be solved by congress.

The second story was about Mexico  and the war for drugs. In the past few months there has been many people caught trying to bring drugs from Mexico to the U.S. There has also been many people killed over these drugs.

The last big story of the day was about Al Qaeda militants that escaped from a Yeman prison. They tunneled out of the prison, which is the second time this has happened this year. Atleast 10 people escaped from a 130 feet long tunnel.

The first top story was about officials that were warning people to not eat raw cookie dough. This is because it has been know for people to contract E. coli. About 77 people have gotten it this year from eating raw cookie dough.

The second big story was about Russian police sanctioning a rally for protesters. This was decided after a violent protest earlier this week. The protest is over parliamentary elections that are going on in Russia right now.

The third big story was about a girl that was shot by a mother in Texas. This was because the mother was denied foodstamps so she held the office up. In the end she killed her self and daughter and injured her son bad.

The first top story was about Pearl Habor day. Today is the 70th anniversery of the bombing that got the U.S. into World War II. Today people gathered to remeber this event and honor those who died that day or have passed after the event.

The second big story was about how many troops that are in Iraq right now. There is only about 8,000 troops left from the U.S. armed forces.There was around 170,000 troops about four years ago.

The third big story was about a new Cold War starting. Yet again oil is at the center point of this new war. Now it is between the U.S. and China. This is because of all the problems in the middle east.

The first big story of the day was about a sheriff in Texas that had botched alot of cases. There was as many as 400 cases that could have been covered etter by the police. But sheriff failed to follow through with this.

The second story was about how Gingrich is going to be the man who restores America back to what it was. He has been climbing to the top for the past few months. An now he is at the top of the polls with 25%.

The third final story for today was about Europe and how the stock market is now on a rise again. Many are hoping that Europe will help boost the stocks even more. If things go good, there could be alot of money made by investors.

The first story was MSU and their loss to Wisconsin. But after their loss they still ended up with a bowl bid. They ended up with OutBack bowl.

The second story was about how Gingrich ended up with the lead in the polls. He  stands with 25% after after the Iowa poll. The person behind him was Ron PAul with 18%.

The third story was about the drugs that are still being brought in from Mexico. Officials are still cracking down trying to stop it from happening but they say there are to many people that are involved in it to stop them all.

The first story was about some U.S. officials telling the Wall Street Journal that Pakistan was the one who gave the go ahead on the air strikes. But Pakistan is saying they had no prior infromation about an air strike that killed 24 people.

The second big story was about the unemployment level drop has dropped. It has dropped to about 8.6% through out the nation. Thats because of about 72,000 jobs being put out there for people to apply for.

The third big story of the day was about the Tea Party, and how it might not have an affect on the upcoming election. Thats because they don't have a candidate for the upcoming election. But the Tea Party hopes to work its way into power.

The first top story was about Pakistan might no longer help the U.S. on their fight for anti-terrorism. This is because of the air strike that was launched by NATO on Pakistan. The only way Pakistan will continue its help is if the U.S. lets up on Pakistan.

The second big story of the day was about the possible lost of the penny in the U.S. currency. Thats because not many people use them and there is 4 million pennies produced every year.  Many belive this is a waste of money, thats because not many people use them.

The first big story was about a major drug tunnel in San Diego. This was a major tunnel that was used to bring drugs from Mexico to the U.S. This is a new major way to transport drugs that is hard to crack down on.

The second big story of the day was about the U.K. removing all of its diplomatic staff from Iran. This is because of the attacks on the embassy and for the attacks on residential compound in Tehran. All Iranian diplomats were also told to leave the U.K.

The third major story of the day was about the stocks that soared up from banks coming together and cutting short-term borrowing rates. U.S. treasury prices droped because of this, thats because people no longer looked for ultra-safe assets.

The first story was about the cut of 1/3 of the forces that are in Afghanistan with in a year. The U.S. hopes to pull out about 33,000 troops by the end of 2012. This is all to cut down on cost.

The second story was about the new blow that Cains campaign took after a new alligation of sexual assualt. MAny belive that after this he will be out of the running for president. He is also dealing with the other aligations still which has affected his campaign badly.

The last story was about American Airlines filing for bankrupcty this year, Thats because they have such big losses. In the last 16 quaters they have lost 162 million dollars.

The first story was about families that are now living in their cars. Right now there is over 16 million kids that live in poverty. In Flordia one-third of the nations people who are in poverty live there.

The second story was about the Occupy Wall Street protesters in L.A. being busted by cops. The protesters were arrested because they were told by the mayor not to occupy the city hall. But many did it anyways, so cops were called to come and break up the protest.

The last story was about an air strike that went on for almost two hours in Pakastan. About 24 Pakastani soldiers were killed in the air strike. It is said that the air strike was called in after shots were taken at Afghan forces by Pakastani Soldiers.

The first top story was about a 16-year old from Ohio trying to attempt murder. It was linked through craigslist. The boy was arrested and is still in custody of the police. This has scared many people about craigslist.

The second story was about a man that was arrested in New York for trying to make a bomb. It was said that the man was going to bomb police and post offices. But he was stopped before he could attempt anything.

The last story was about congress trying to work on the idea of raising taxes. Many of the republicans don't want to, but the democrats are pushing for this. They hope to gain more revenue from these new taxes in which they are trying to in place.

The first story was about the testing of particles that move faster then light. This new discovery throws out Einstiens theory that nothing can move faster then the speed of light. Even though there has been only two test done it confirms that there are things that can move faster then light.

Another story was about how the republican canidates could lose the election if they don't start to address the economy problem. Many say that they will have to start to reverse unemploment and the national debt.

The last story was about the occupy wall street action. Many of the people who participating in this action are saying that the cops are using excessive force as they try to arrest people. One image that is being seen by many is a 84 year old man getting tear gassed.

The first story was about the republican canidate Cain taking a slip in the polls after the aligations against him. Many belive he will continue to drop and the one who will take his place is Romney.

The second important headline was about occupy wall street and how the police are trying to crack down and stop the protesters. But many say that they will still be fighting until they spread their word to the world.

The last story was about a pilot getting trapped in the bathroom on a plane. An when a passanger went to the cabin to tell the co-pilot they thought it may have been a terroist but at that point the pilot got out. So it all ended with just a funny story.

The last story was about a man that went to the white house and fired two shots into the living quaters. The police caught up to him four days later. The police are looking into his mental health and are still trying to figure out his motive for this.

The last story was about a man that had been out of jail for less then six months and beat  a elderly woman to death. Then he took her wedding rings and proposed to his girlfriend five days after he murdered the woman.

The last story is about a earthquake tht happened in Turkey. This is the second one that has happened with in a short period of time. 10 people were killed from the quake. People were protesting because police wouldn't close down two hotels that were damaged by the first tremor. After this riot police were called in.

Last night there was coverage on the whole mess up by Rick Perry in his debate. They talked about how he couldn't name the three branches of goverment. They also talked about how he wanted to cut education. When in the past most presidents tryed to improve it so people could better themselves in life.

Another story they covered was about the Penn State coach who tried to say he didnt know what he did wrong. He was also still trying to say that the charges were not true. But he still was fired and people were still rioting over this.

One last story that was on was about the sand storms that were happening in Texas from the drought that they had during the summer. They were comparing it to the 1930's dust bowl. The drought was so bad that it ruined many crops and grain prices are expected to be high this year.

   One top story was about Irans nuclear program that they are continueing even though there is alot of contravese over it. Iran is saying that the U.N. and the Atomic Energy Agency are siding with the U.S. and there ideas that Iran is trying to build nuclear weapons.

Anoher top story is about California trying to crack down on places that rent to medical marijunan  dispensaries. But many are saying that this violates the tenth amendment in California. There is also a lawsuit in progress about this issue.

One last top story is about people trying to still outlaw abortions. Even though there was a defeat
in Mississippi the fight is still strong. They are hoping to get this anti-abortion on to more ballots by next years election. The major reason for their defeat they say is because of misconception in the media.

The first story was  about a possible attack on the Iran nuclear program by Israeli military. The defense minister sent out these claims a day before the United Nations was suppose to release a report on the program .

The second story is on the Jackson case and his doctor being charged for the death of Michael. He was put on suicided watch in the L.A. county jail. This was after his conviction of man slaughter for giving Jackson drugs that he requested for that ended up killing him.

The third story is about parents going to new extremes to get their kids chikenpox so they don't have to get them vacinations. Parents are getting on facebook and joining groups to have other parents send lollipops or other things licked or touched by kids with chickenpox to them so that their kids get it. Doing this is illegal because it is a fedral crime to send diseases and viruses across state lines throughthe mail. If these parents were caught they could face up to 20 years in fedral prison.

The statement “Propaganda is to democracy what violence is to a dictatorship." that Chomsky made means to me that proganda is major part in a demcracy just like violence is an important part to a dictatorship. Im not sayng that it is good but it takes a major role in it. When you are able to have free speech there will be propaganda because people will want to show there opinion and to put the other persons opinion down. Just like in a dictatorship people become mad and rise against the goverment because they want freedom.

Reveiw of Movie

The movie Manufacturing Consent is a documentary on Norm Chomsky and his ideas about the mass media. In the movie he talks about the media is driven to make a profit and to compete with other forms of media. Such as in advertising, one company puts out an ad to show how good their product is and how it is better then the other advertisers product. It also shows how the media tries to keep out things that may hurt the economy that helps drive the media. Such as in the east Timor incident that many people didnt know about because the media kept away from the publics eyes. Thats because the U.S. and other countries were helping the people occupying the country, and the media helped keep this incident out of the public eyes because many people would have been agaisnt this. one last major thing this movie talks about is how that media is driven for profit, so if they have to slant the media to their opinion or to a way that pleases the public then the media will. This is what Chomsky calls the propaganda model.                              

I think this is a new way for people to talk and share their feelings with others. But this wevsite may cause many people to become mad because their feelings are being shared with millions of other people that can look at this. Even though it invades many peoples privacy, it has inivated the way people conect and comminicate. Thats because people now can take their mood or feeling and look on this website to find people who feel the same and talk with them.

       One ad that i saw was a Bud Light advertisement. It showed everyone at a bar having fun with everyone drinking a Bud Light. This shows a sign of bandwagon because it is trying to show that everyone drinks. It also is saying it is fun and you will have a good time if you drink this beer. They also used saliance by showing the product over and over and zooming in on it.

    Another ad i saw was for a weight lost plan. It had real people telling their real life experiances with the program. This is testimonial. There was also a group of people doing the workout which is bandwagon. They also used straw-man, showing another program but that one didn't have a food program to follow like theirs.

My ad is trying to tell what you will be able to buy, how much you will save, also where the bussinese is located, what time it is open, and when the sale is. It is trying to get you to buy, by telling you what you can use it for and how much you can save by telling you with a big heading.

It is targeting any group that would be interested in the product. Even though it is a plain ad it has things that catch your eye that get you to look at it so you may become intrested in the product and buy it.

 This ad here is using a cartoon character that the company has created to try and get kids to try and buy their product. They are also using statistics to show how many people are buying the product. It also use the idea of sugar that many kids want their cereal to have to try and get the consumers to buy their product. It is also using bright colors that would catch your eye so that you look at the ad.


This ad is trying to sell cereal. It is appealing to the eye because of the colors and they use a cartoon tiger that makes you really look at it to see what they are selling. Even though it is set up to catch kids so they buy the cereal but it also catches adults because of the character that they use and how many other people buy the product that is posted in the ad. It also tries to show that you will be happy if you do buy the product.

This ad really doesnt make any asumptions except that if you buy this product that you will be happy. It is trying to do is say that if you buy their cereal you will be better off and it isn't limited to any race or social rank or group.

I dont think it has any consequences that it has to take responsibility for. All they are trying to do is sell cereal with out creating a false image or idea. So they use a cartoon character to catch the consmer and have them buy the product.

 This ad is really two ads in one. It is trying to sell a video game and a drink that kids tend to drink. It is also trying to show how fun this game is in the ad. it also shows camera veiws from the game to try and show people what you will have to do in the game. It is also trying to show that the mascot for the drink is a good person that is trying to help outand stop bad things from happening.

In this ad they are trying to sell Kool Aid and it is also trying to sell the game that is based around this mascot. To many people at the time when this was out they may have found that it was a very good ad. Thats because at the time video games were starting to become popular and everyone wanted a game for everything. This ad would have been ment for kids that at the time really liked the drink and the character.

This ad is set up for anyone that would be interested in video games. So its not just targerting one person, it is trying to capture a wide crowd to getthem to buy there product.

From this ad many parents may get mad because their kids are at home drinking this companies drink and playing the game that was created by the company. I think this ad doesnt cause many problems because it is just selling a game that many kids will want to buy. But some parents may just be mad because their kids are just playing this game.

  This ad is showing many different races to catch many different audiences. It is also tryin to show what was popular at the time. Which from this ad you could say maybe hip hop. It is also showing the clothing of the time that people would be willing to buy. It is also more targeting a certain age group that would be able to buy their product. Which be in their early to late twenties. It also is targating any gender group.

The soul purpose of this ad is to sell nikes product. Not only their shoes but also their clothing. at the time this ad would have sold alot because this was the popular fashion of the time. It is ment to sell products to adults. Thats because it uses adults in the ad that are happy and having fun. Which with this nike sold alot of products.

This ad is asuming that everyone is interested in hip hop and that with that they would want to buy this product because of that. so what it is trying to tell people that if you do like these things. You should buy their product because you would fit in more with the crowd. An that anyone from any racial or gender group can buy this product.

Somethings that this ad may cause in long term is a sense of style that many people may like or dislike. In short term it may be linked to a certain music genera that is popular at rthe time which will cause many people to want to buy this product. This ad is responsible for this fashion catching on and causing people to want to be like the people in their ad.
